Car Tax also known as Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), is a tax for you to drive your car on the road. It's charged on nearly every car on the roads today - you may be exempt depending on you or your car.

It's due every year and you're now able to pay either Monthly, Six Monthly or Yearly. However it will cost more overall when you don't pay Yearly.

The method for calculation isn't entirely simple as the government has made reforms over the years to change how it's calculated. The easiest thing for you to do is enter your License Plate above in the Search bar and along with the renewal date we will tell you the cost of your Car Tax.

MOT stands for Ministry of Transport (now Department of Transport) and is a test which is carried out by a registered Garage to check your car is still road worthy.

When do I need to get an MOT?

If you've purchased a new car then generally you need to get an MOT Test before the 3rd anniversary of the date your car first was registered. If you have a car with 9 or more seats or operate a Taxi then this before the 1st anniversary.

After the date of the first test you need to get your car tested once a year.
